🌋 Touring Tenerife: A Week of Sun, Stars, and Surprises
Tenerife isn’t just a beach holiday—it’s a full-blown sensory experience. From volcanic peaks to lush forests, sleepy villages to vibrant coastal towns, this island packs a real punch.
Day 1: Arrival & Coastal CharmTouching down at Tenerife South Airport, I was greeted by warm Atlantic breezes. I headed straight to Los Cristianos, a laid-back beach town perfect for easing into island life. A sunset stroll along the promenade, fresh seafood by the marina, and I was officially on island time.
Day 2: Teide National Park – Above the CloudsMount Teide is the crown jewel of Tenerife. I took the cable car up the volcano and hiked the final stretch to the summit. Standing above the clouds, with Mars-like landscapes all around, I felt like I’d landed on another planet. Pro tip: book your cable car tickets in advance.
Day 3: Masca – The Hidden VillageDriving to Masca is not for the faint-hearted—think hairpin bends and jaw-dropping cliffs. But the reward? A tiny village nestled in a dramatic ravine, with views that make your heart skip. I hiked down the Masca Gorge and took a boat back to Los Gigantes. Epic.
Day 4: Northern Charms – La Laguna & Anaga ForestLa Laguna, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is all colonial charm and cobbled streets. From there, I ventured into Anaga Rural Park, where ancient laurel forests and misty trails made me feel like I’d stepped into a fairytale.
Day 5: Natural Pools & Dragon TreesThe north coast is dotted with natural swimming pools—Garachico’s are my favorite. I also visited Icod de los Vinos to see the legendary Dragon Tree, said to be over 1,000 years old.
Day 6: Beach Day – Playa de Las TeresitasGolden sands imported from the Sahara, calm turquoise waters, and palm trees swaying in the breeze—Playa de Las Teresitas is the ultimate chill zone. I grabbed a mojito from a beach bar and let the hours melt away.
Day 7: Stargazing & FarewellBack in Teide National Park, I joined a stargazing tour. With virtually no light pollution, the night sky was ablaze with stars. I spotted Saturn’s rings through a telescope and made a wish on a shooting star. Tenerife, you’ve been magic.
